Through My Lens: A Creative Journey from Africa to Phillip Island

There’s nothing quite like the feeling of seeing your work on the walls of a gallery for the very first time. My debut solo exhibition, “Through My Lens,” was one of those magical, pinch-me moments and I’m so excited to share a behind-the-scenes look at what made it so special.

This exhibition brought together 24 original artworks, each one telling a story of connection, colour, and place. Half of the collection was inspired by my time visiting with The Hunger Project in Africa, where I was moved by the strength, vibrancy and spirit of the people and wildlife I encountered. These pieces are rich in warmth and texture, reflecting the deep sense of purpose and inspiration I carried home with me.

The other half of the exhibition celebrates the beauty of life here on Phillip Island, where I live and paint. From gum leaves to the quirky wildlife that shares this landscape with us this was a reminder that inspiration can be found right on our doorstep.

A Night to Remember 

The opening night was everything I had hoped for and more. Surrounded by friends, collectors, and art lovers, I was humbled by the response. Six original artworks sold that evening, and many more people took home a piece of the exhibition through prints, wall tiles, and tea towels. These product pieces are still available to order, a wonderful way to add a splash of art and storytelling to your home or gift to someone special.

Commissions Open for 2025 

One of the things I’m best known for as a Phillip Island artist is my signature realistic animal paintings on stetched canvases. There’s something magical about creating texture and depth into each piece and watching a personality emerge from the canvas. I still have room for a limited number of commissions before the end of 2025, so if you’ve been dreaming of a custom piece, perhaps a beloved pet portrait or a wildlife painting that captures the heart of nature, now’s the perfect time to get in touch.
